HART — A 53-year-old Montague man was sentenced to 10 months in jail in 27th Circuit Court Monday, June 11, for two felony convictions of uttering and publishing.
Danny Ray Darling, of 9091 Whitbeck Rd., pleaded guilty to both counts.
Restitution in the case was not ordered, because Darling has already paid back the money.
Darling illegally obtained the funds by cashing his paychecks twice, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.
“I was whacked out,” Darling told Judge Bradley G. Lambrix as he wept. “I didn’t know what I was doing. I’ve got mental problems… I don’t want to come back here. If I had been on my meds, I wouldn’t have done this.”
Judge Lambrix gave Darling credit for 154 days served in jail.
