HART — The Oceana County Road Commission has several road projects scheduled for this summer, including repaving Oceana Drive from the north end of the Hart bridge to just beyond Lever Road at a cost of over $530,000.

Federal funds will pay the bulk of the costs, and the road commission will contribute $118,000 toward the project, said OCRC Clerk Sandy Griffin.

Other re-paving projects include:

– Weare Township: Jackson Road from 104th Avenue to 112th Avenue.

– Leavitt Township: Filmore Road from Maple Island Road to 198th Avenue.

– Golden Township: 56th Avenue from Polk Road to Deer Road; 64th Avenue south of Taylor Road; and Railroad Road from Deer Road to Taylor Road.

– Shelby Township: Baker Road from 80th Avenue to 88th Avenue; East Hills Drive; and Pine Grove Drive.

– Ferry Township: 132nd Avenue from M 20 to Pierce Road.

– Newfield Township: Garfield Road at the Taylor Bridge.

– Grant Township: The final stretch of Water Road from Winston Road to Wilke Road will be repaved through the Electric Forest Festival road improvement project. That project will be completed before the festival begins at the end of June, said Griffin. Cleveland Road from Oceana Drive to 96th Avenue will also re-paved as an OCRC project.

– Claybanks Township: Webster Road/Scenic Drive.

Chip seal/fog seal projects:

“The chip seal/fog seal process is when they put the emulsion on the road and follow up with stones and then seal over the stone surface with a ‘fog seal’ to keep the stone in place,” Griffin explained.

– Crystal/Colfax townships: Madison Road from 126th Avenue to 192nd Avenue.

– Colfax Township: 186th Avenue from Jefferson Road to Madison Road.

– Elbridge Township: 136th Avenue from Tyler Road to Polk Road.

– Hart Township: Polk Road from Oceana Drive to 100th Avenue.

– Golden Township: Fox Road from 48th Avenue to 56th Avenue and 56th Avenue from Polk Road to Taylor Road.

– Benona Township: Scenic Drive from Buchanan Road to Shelby Road and 48th Avenue from Johnson Road to Marshville Dam Road.

– Ferry Township: Pierce Road from 132nd Avenue to 144th Avenue.

– Newfield Township: 192nd Avenue from M 20 to Warren Road.

– Grant Township: Clay Road from Oceana Drive to 80th Avenue and Cleveland Road from Oceana Drive to 80th Avenue.

– Claybanks Township: 56th Avenue from Winston Road to Wilke Road.

Project costs were not available.

US 31 will be repaved by the Michigan Department of Transportation from Shelby Road to Polk Road. related story here
