Now that the snow has melted, road construction season begins in Michigan.
John Richard of the Michigan Department of Transportation Communications Department outlined projects slated for Oceana County.
The biggest project on tap for this summer is resurfacing five miles of US 31 from Shelby Road to Polk Road in Hart. The $10.7 million project is slated to begin in May and continue through November, Richard said.
Also scheduled for this summer is resurfacing 3.7 miles of US 31 from the north branch of the Pentwater River to the Oceana-Mason county line, Richard said. The nearly $1 million project is tentatively scheduled for September to November. However, it could be delayed until May/June of 2019 “if other projects aren’t completed.”
Resurfacing three miles of Oceana Drive/Business Route US 31 beginning at US 31 and continuing to Wythe Street in the Village of Pentwater is set for September through November at a cost of over $630,000.
MDOT will also replace the M 20 culvert at the Gillon Lake drain near Hesperia from July to August. The project cost is over $600,000.
OCP will provide Oceana County Road Commission projects in a future story.
