Church hosts benefit Saturday.
NEW ERA — A dinner and silent auction benefit for the late Barry Harris is set for this Saturday, April 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the New Era Reformed Church, 4775 1st Street.
“Join us as we honor Barry and show love and support for Susan Harris. Bear passed away on April 4, he was battling lung cancer,” states a press release about the event. “Proceeds will help cover several months of lost wages for them both and expenses related to the passing of Bear. Dinner is a freewill offering. There will be a buffet of lasagna, pizza, salad, and ice cream bar. We have lots of silent auction items.
“His wife Susan was his primary care giver. Both were self-employed and neither had been working for quite some time due to his health issues.”
