HART — A 47-year-old Shelby man faces a minimum of 15 years in prison after pleading “no contest” Monday, April 16, in 27th Circuit Court to first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC).
Martin Charles Shalifoe, II, of 362 Pine St., was arrested by the Shelby Police Department on three felony counts of CSC, two of which were dismissed when he pleaded Monday.
Shalifoe’s maximum prison term will be determined by the court, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.
The plea agreement was reached with the “consent of the victim and the victim’s family,” the prosecutor said. The victim was a girl under the age of 12.
The incident involving penetration occurred a few years ago in Shelby, the prosecutor said. “All three counts (that Shalifoe was facing) are incorporated into one behavior.” One count of first-degree CSC and one count of third-degree CSC were dismissed.
Sentencing is set for June 11 at 9 a.m.
