The National Weather Service has extended the winter storm warning Sunday, April 15, to 5 p.m.

The warning includes Oceana, Mason, Newaygo, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm and Gratiot counties.

NWS extended the warning from noon to 5 p.m.

Heavy mixed precipitation is expected with additional snow and sleet accumulations of around 3/4 of an inch and ice accumulations of 1/4 to 4/10 of an inch are expected.

“Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel will be dangerous and nearly impossible. Tree branches could fall. Expect significant reductions in visibility at times,” according to NWS.

“A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Strong winds are also expected.”
