Oceana County is under a winter storm warning until noon Sunday, April 15.

The National Weather Service issued the warning Saturday morning, April 14, for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Clare, Oceana, Newaygo, Mecosta, Isabella, Muskegon, Montcalm and Gratiot counties.

Expect “heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow and sleet accumulations of 1-3 inches, with localized amounts up to 4 inches, and ice accumulations of three tenths to one half of an inch are expected.”

NWS warns that “power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel will be dangerous and nearly impossible. Tree branches could fall. Expect significant reductions in visibility at times.”

“A winter storm warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice will make travel very hazardous or impossible. Strong winds are also expected.”
