Tiger Olympiad team advances to state.

SHELBY — The Shelby High School Science Olympiad Team took third place during regional competition, March 17, in Mount Pleasant, bringing home a team trophy and 18 first through third place medals.

The Tigers now move on to compete in the State Science Olympiad Tournament at Michigan State University, April 28, said Coach Pete Peterson.

Medal winners include:

First place

– Henry Cox and Cali Kinstner, Hovercraft
– Martha Mendez and Gabrielle Przkop, Rocks and Minerals
– Martha Mendez and Claire Peterson, Thermodynamics

Second place

– Henry Cox and Cali Kinstner, Fermi Question
– Katelyn Brown and Zack Goodrow, Mouse Trap Car
– Katelyn Brown and Lindsey Tranthum, Anatomy and Physiology

Third place

– Claire Peterson and Delaney Baker, Helicopter
– Zack Goodrow and Katelyn Brown, Astronomy
– Jonah Scouten and Katelyn Burmeister, Mission Possible
