GRANT TOWNSHIP — A 25-year-old Rothbury man who allegedly tried to strangle his father last month faces a trial in 27th Circuit Court next summer.

Shane Schuiteman, of 2235 W. Cleveland Rd., is lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $50,000/cash/surety bond on a charge of felonious domestic assault involving strangulation.

Schuiteman was arrested by Oceana County sheriff’s deputies shortly after midnight, Jan. 8, after assaulting both his 56-year-old father and his father’s 60-year-old girlfriend and attempting to strangle his father, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Both victims suffered minor injuries.

Schuiteman’s attorney, Attorney James Scozzari, told Judge Robert D. Springstead that his client has no prior criminal history.

Schuiteman’s trial is set for July 25 and 26 with a pretrial June 18.
