GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — An 86-year-old Fremont man was transported to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Campus in Muskegon Sunday afternoon, Feb. 25, following a two-vehicle crash on Maple Island Road near Roosevelt Road, according to an accident report from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

James William Deur was driving a 2001 Buick Park Avenue when he attempted to pass a 2010 Hyundai Sonata driven by Linda Ann Hoover, 58, of Whitehall. Deur sideswiped the Sonata, the report states, as it was traveling south on Maple Island Road.

Hoover was slowing to turn right, with the turning signal on, onto Roosevelt Road. When Deur attempted to pass, he ended up sideswiping the Sonata, the report states. His Park Avenue then struck an embankment on the southwest corner of the intersection.

Neither Hoover nor her passenger, Amy Reed Woodman, 74 , of Shelby were injured, the report states.

Deur was taken to the hospital by Oceana EMS. All three people involved in the 2:27 p.m. crash were wearing their seat belts.
