HART — Beth Sellers, 51, of Shelby has been arraigned in 78th District Court on a felony charge of embezzlement $1,000-$20,000 for allegedly embezzling at least $2,200 from the New Era Wesco store, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Sellers’ bail was set at $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent.

A sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to the store, at 4667 S. First St., Monday, Jan. 29, Mast said.

“Upon arrival there, the deputy spoke with management about a possible theft from the store by an employee. Through the deputy’s investigation, he was able to uncover evidence of at least $2,200 that was stolen from the store. Evidence was collected from the store, and an interview was arranged with (Sellers).

“During an interview at the Oceana Sheriff’s Office yesterday afternoon, (Sellers) did admit to the theft of some of the missing funds,” the sheriff said. “The investigation is continuing as more evidence is being evaluated and collected.”
