Fire destroys Golden Township house.

GOLDEN TOWNSHIP — Fire destroyed a house at 3837 N. 64th Ave. Friday afternoon. Firefighters were called to the scene about 12:30 p.m. While on the scene at 2:30 p.m. Hart Area Fire Chief Jack White said he did not know the cause of the fire but said it appeared to have started in the northwest corner of the back of the home. The male and female residents were home at the time of the fire, White said. American Red Cross had been called to assist them.
White said the occupants’ cat died in the fire.
Responding to the scene were Hart Area Fire Department, Pentwater Fire Department, Shelby-Benona Fire Department, Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Michigan State Police, and American Red Cross.
