HART — A 41-year-old Twin Lake man convicted of a high-court misdemeanor of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC) was sentenced in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Jan. 22, to serve one year in jail.
“I want to apologize to the victim and the family,” said Craig Walter Hatfield, of 108 W. Kenwood Rd. “I made a grave error, and I want to right my wrongs.”
Hatfield received credit for six days served in jail. Judge Bradley G. Lambrix also ordered probation for five years and required Hatfield to register as a sex offender.
Hatfield is to have no contact with children under the age of 17 except his biological child. The matter did not involve his own child.
He was arrested last September by the Hart Police Department and then later pleaded “no contest” to the charge.
Fourth-degree CSC is punishable by up to two years in prison.
