‘Sticky-fingered’ bandit steals honey bee colony.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — A “sticky-fingered” bandit (or bandits) allegedly stole a colony of honey bees from West Woodrow Road on Christmas Eve, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

A maple tree was cut down to remove the bee hive, and the thief (or thieves) made a beeline from the crime scene.

The larceny was reported to police, Dec. 24, at 2:15 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 25, 2017:

– 1:05 p.m., (OCSO), cows at large, 9000 block of East Skeels Road, Greenwood Township.

– 6:57 p.m., (OCSO), domestic assault, West Stony Lake Road, Benona Township. A 36-year-old Shelby man is a suspect.

Tuesday, Dec. 26, 2017:

– 6:35 p.m., (Michigan State Police), car/deer crash, York and Baseline roads, Elbridge Township.

– 10:10 p.m., (MSP), a 25-year-old Shelby man was arrested for driving while license suspended, Buchanan Road and 44th Avenue, Benona Township.
