Hart man, 84, injured in US 31 crash.

HART TOWNSHIP — An 84-year-old Hart man was injured Thursday, Dec. 21, shortly before noon in a rear-end crash on southbound US 31 near the entrance to the Hart rest area, according to an accident report from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.
The man was driving a blue 2005 Ford Explorer, and his passenger was a 56-year-old Commerce, Michigan woman.
“(The Explorer) had stopped at the entrance to the Hart rest area, which was closed,” the report states. (The man) then pulled the vehicle onto the roadway and was starting down the road. Vehicle #2 was also going to pull into the closed rest area, and driver #2 turned to avoid the blocking barrels and back onto the roadway. Vehicle #2 ran into the back of Vehicle #1.”
The second vehicle was a white 2014 Toyota Corrola driven by a 28-year-old Stockbridge, Michigan woman, according to the report.
The man and his passenger were transported by Oceana County EMS to Mercy Health Partners Hackley Hospital in Muskegon for non-life-threatening injuries. The man’s injuries were listed as more serious than the passenger’s.
The driver of the Corrola was examined by EMS, but not transported to the hospital, according to the report.
All three involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts.
Hart Area Fire Department assisted at the scene.
