HART — Oceana County Road Commission workers spend long hours keeping the roads safe for motorists. And now the commission has been honored for keeping its own workers safe, too.

Road commission Union President Eric Wright and Managing Director Mark Timmer received the road commission’s “Goose Egg” award from the County Road Association Self-Insurance Fund, the workers’ compensation carrier.

“This is the second year in a row that we’ve not had any ‘lost-time accidents,'” said road commission Clerk Sandy Griffin.
