No Shave November: The winner is….

By Rob Alway, Editor-in-Chief.

LUDINGTON — The personnel of the Mason County Sheriff’s Office and Oceana County Sheriff’s Office have ended their rivalry to raise the most amount of money for No Shave November. While the MCSO raised a little more, $2,620, compared to OCSO’s $1,122, the real winners are the recipients of the funds: In Mason County, the money is being donated to Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital’s Cancer Patient Care Fund, and in Oceana County the recipient is the Crystal Valley Care Fund.

During the months of October and November, personnel from both departments were allowed to violate department policy by growing facial hair. In return, the violators had to pay fines. In addition, each department accepted donations as well.

“There are no losers in this competition,” Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole said. “This is a great opportunity to hold a friendly competition between the two departments and raise money for two great causes.”

However, Sheriff Mast said to expect a rematch in 2018.
