78th District Court sentencings.

HART — The following were sentenced recently in 78th District Court:

– Arthur Ray Baxter, 52, of 2510 E. Loop Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 27 of second-offense driving while license suspended (DWLS) and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time served if imposed; and $440 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to the Secretary of State (SOS). One count of transporting open intoxicants and one count of unlawful license plate use were dismissed.

– Kirsten Joann Alderink, 38, of 2701 Judson, Spring Lake, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating with a high blood alcohol content (BAC) and was sentenced to 180 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; must complete counseling; and $605 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Janet Ann Tice, 33, of 217 N. Michigan Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Nov. 27 of third-degree retail fraud and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; a $75 fine; and $20 in restitution to Hart Family Dollar.

– James Michael Kersting, 22, of 7346 Loop Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to nine days in jail; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; outpatient treatment; six months probation; not to purchase/possess a firearm; no alcohol/drugs; no assaultive behavior; subject to testing, searches and counseling; and $1,680 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– William Craig Buchanan, 56, of 7736 Fox Rd., Mears, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating without insurance and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and $400 in fines and costs.

– Michael Lavern Geeting, 45, of 260 N. Bear Lake Rd., Muskegon, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating while impaired and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; Alcohol Highway Safety Education (AHSE); and $1,055 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Chris Mea Venne, 42, of 7748 W. 1 Mile Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating while intoxicated and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; outpatient treatment; and $1,205 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of operating without insurance was dismissed.

– Roy Daniel Bolan, Jr., 37, of 5073 S. 200th Ave., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 27 of assault and battery and was sentenced to 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and $450 in fines and costs.

– Douglas Scott Smith, 34, of 100 Rhonda Dr., Lot 64, Fremont, was found guilty Nov. 27 of operating with a high BAC and was sentenced to nine days in jail; 180 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; outpatient treatment; six months probation; not to purchase/possess a firearm; no alcohol/drugs; no assaultive behavior; subject to testing, searches and counseling; and $1,780 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of transporting open intoxicants and one count of DWLS were dismissed.

– Scott Everette Couturier, 36, of 5727 Cherokee Bend, New Era, was found guilty Nov. 27 of assault and battery and was sentenced to 27 days in jail with credit for 27 days served; 93 days discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and a $75 fine.

– Tyler Joe Brown, 25, of 4545 W. Anthony, Ludington, was found guilty May 22 of second-offense operating while intoxicated and was sentenced Nov. 27 one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and $500 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Samuel Benjamin Mitteer, 28, of 3102 S. 72nd Ave., Shelby, was found guilty Nov. 27 of controlled substance use – narcotic or cocaine and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and $450 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS. One count of analogue possession was dismissed.

– Zachary Adam Ohrling, 26, of 120 Munn St., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 27 of second-offense DWLS and was sentenced to one year discretionary jail to ensure compliance with sentence; credit for time serve if imposed; and $440 in fines and costs. Conviction reportable to SOS.

– Anthony Edward Feltman, 35, of 3646 E. Arthur Rd., Hesperia, was found guilty Nov. 21 of disturbing the peace and was sentenced to 90 days discretionary jail over the next one year and $325 in fines and costs. One count of disorderly – drunk was dismissed.

Dismissals

– Jaqueline Martinez, 26, of 2263 Fox Rd., Hart, one count of assault and battery was dismissed Nov. 27.

– Melissa Sue Steffes, 37, of 5900 Water Rd., Rothbury, one count of assault and battery was dismissed Nov. 27. Victim is unwilling to cooperate with prosecution, her court file states, and defendant stated that the incident was misunderstanding.
