HESPERIA — Hesperia Community Schools were put on lock down for approximately an hour and a half Wednesday morning, Nov. 1, after a middle school student made a false bomb threat.

“This morning, a middle school student brought a small silver case, like a lunch box, to school and placed it up next to another student in the cafeteria, stating it was a bomb,” said Hesperia Superintendent Vaughn White. “The case turned out to be completely empty.

“As a matter of precaution, the district initiated a lockdown procedure, and law enforcement was contacted to sweep the building to ensure safety. Nothing was found, and the school remained on lockdown until approximately 10 a.m.”

White stressed that the safety of his students and staff is his number-one priority. He alerted parents of the situation through robocalls immediately after the lockdown, he said.

The lockdown began at approximately 8:15-8:30 a.m., he said.
