CRYSTAL TOWNSHIP — A 31-year-old Muskegon man was carried out of the woods by sheriff’s deputies and medical personnel after falling 12-15 feet from his tree stand while bow hunting Thursday morning, Oct. 19, near North 112th Avenue and East Jefferson Road, said Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.
“He suffered serious injuries to his back and lower body,” Mast said.
The hunter had a cell phone and was able to call 911. He managed to crawl partially out of the woods by himself before emergency staff arrived, the sheriff said. Deputies assisted Oceana County EMS medical responders with carrying the injured man out of the woods and into the ambulance.
The man was transported to Mercy Health Partners Lakeshore Campus in Shelby before being transferred to Muskegon, the sheriff said.
Emergency crews were dispatched to the scene shortly before 7 a.m.
