‘Tall Cop’ tackles big issue.

SHELBY – Join Oceana Leads, Oceana County’s substance abuse prevention coalition, for a workshop with the Tall Cop, Nov. 9, at the Shelby Optimist Club.
Officer Jermaine Galloway, the “Tall Cop” will take attendees through a workshop on current trends in drug and alcohol use as well as signs of use among youth and young adults.
Officer Galloway, nicknamed “Tall Cop” because he is 6’9”, has worked in law enforcement for nearly 20 years. Much of that time has been spent focused on combating underage drinking and drug abuse. He is regarded as one of America’s top experts in various drug and alcohol trends, working with parents, educators, city leaders, law enforcement and many others to understand and reduce the harm caused by drinking and drugs in their communities. On average, he gives more than 200 workshops per year.
This year, two of those workshops will take place in Oceana County. The free workshops are scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 9, at the Shelby Optimist Club, 788 Industrial Park, Shelby.
• Lunch session: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with lunch provided from 11-11:30 a.m.
• Dinner session: 5-8pm, with dinner provided from 5-6 p.m.
