PENTWATER — The public is invited to join the Pentwater Service Club in honoring Elaine and Lee Curtis for their 48 years of community volunteerism at a Sept. 28 dinner at the Pentwater Yacht Club. The couple was recently named the club’s 2017 Citizens of the Year.
A social hour begins at 5:30 p.m., and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. A program honoring the couple will follow.
Elaine and Lee created the Halcyon Nature Center on their Pentwater property 48 years ago for the enjoyment of individuals, families and groups — at no charge. The 2.5 acre, mostly wooded site at 780 6th St., offers a great variety of native trees, a pond with two small islands, and nature trails on which flowers, trees and rocks are labeled.
Tickets for the dinner cost $25 and can be purchased by cash or check (payable to Pentwater Service Club) at Silver Hills Antiques (Gustafson’s Building) or at the Wishing Well (9580 N. Business U.S. 31). For each ticket, please specify the preferred entrée: prime rib, duck or whitefish.
