GRANT TOWNSHIP — An 11-year-old Hudsonville girl was ejected from the pickup truck her father was driving following a rollover crash Sunday evening, Sept. 17, on southbound US 31 near Stony Lake Road, and the dad was arrested for operating while impaired, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.
Brian Allen Vining, 37, of Jenison was lodged in the Oceana County Jail, according to the report.
Neither the girl nor Vining were injured in the 8:10 p.m. crash, the report states. Both were wearing their seatbelts.
The 2004 Ford F150 pickup truck was headed south in the passing lane “when it left the roadway to the left; re-entered the road; left the roadway again; re-entered the road; and created yaw skid marks as the truck crossed both lanes of the roadway; left the roadway to the right; and rolled over once.”
“The female passenger (child) was ejected,” the report continued. “After further investigation, the driver was found to be operating while impaired and was lodged.”
According to the report, Vining’s blood alcohol content was .05, and he also was under the influence of drugs. According to the sheriff’s office daily log, Vining is also charged with child endangerment.
The crash was the second one to occur in Oceana County Sunday in which a parent was driving under the influence with a child or children in the vehicle.
