HART — The Hart Area Fire Department recently honored three retired firefighters who served the department for a combined 78 years.
Bob Carlson had over 29 years on the department with 20 of those years as a lieutenant. Carlson also was a fire prevention officer for 25 years. Also known as “Fireman Bob,” he taught school groups the importance of fire safety. Carlson was also heavily involved in getting donations for the department’s first Jaws of Life unit in 1995.
Ricky Schaner served 25 years on the department with eight years as a lieutenant.
John Williams served the fire department for over 24 years during two stints.
The three men were bestowed awards for their decades of service and dedication, Aug. 30.
