Heavy police presence due to training, ‘short search.’

WEARE TOWNSHIP — Heavy police presence in the area of Madison Road near 92nd Avenue Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 12, is due to multi-agency training as well as a “short search” for a person who ran away from police, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

The Pentwater Police Department went out to the area to interview someone, Mast said, and the person ran away. It just so happened that local law enforcement was performing training down the road.

“Our department and the Mason County Sheriff’s Office scheduled an event on Madison Road,” Mast said. “There are quite a few cars down there.”

The person who ran away from the Pentwater officers has not been found, but Mast said no serious criminal charges are involved.

OCP contacted Pentwater Police Chief Laude Hartrum, but has not yet received a call back.
