WEARE TOWNSHIP — The 64-year-old Pentwater man, who was critically injured last Thursday in a crash with a semi truck on West Monroe Road near US 31, has died from his injuries, according to Oceana County Sheriff Craig Mast.

Donald Warner died Thursday afternoon, June 29, Mast said. His wife, Lauretta Joan Warner, 73, survived the crash and was treated and released at Mercy Hospital Lakeshore Campus in Shelby.

“It is with deep sorrow that I must update you on his status. Yesterday late in the afternoon Mr. Warner passed away from the injuries he suffered during the crash,” Mast stated this morning. “The crash is still under investigation pending the results of tests.”

Warner was entering West Monroe Road from a private drive when he pulled out directly into the path of a tractor-trailer as it was traveling westbound. Impact ensued on the driver’s side of his vehicle. Donald Warner had to be extricated from the wreckage. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

That section of road was closed for hours while the crash was being investigated.
