NEWFIELD TOWNSHIP — A 22-year-old Mears woman died in a two-car crash Thursday, June 22, on M 20 near 198th Avenue, according to the Hart post of the Michigan State Police.

Amber Prowant was killed after she was ejected from her vehicle.

“Troopers from the Hart post are investigating a two-car accident that resulted in a single fatality” states an MSP press release. “Preliminary investigation indicates that the two involved vehicles were both traveling westbound on M 20 near 198th Avenue when one vehicle struck the other in a rear-end collision.

“One driver, a 28-year-old old Arizona man, was transported to Gerber Hospital in Fremont where he was treated and released. The driver of the second vehicle was killed after she was ejected from her vehicle. The deceased driver was identified as 22-year-old Amber Prowant of Mears, Michigan.

“This crash remains under investigation, and it is unknown at this time if speed or alcohol were contributing factors. The deceased driver was not wearing a safety belt.

“Troopers were assisted by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Hesperia Police Department, and Grant Township Fire Department,” states the press release.
