Lightning strike zaps out cell service at festival.

ROTHBURY — Lightning struck a cell tower early Friday morning, June 23, interrupting service AT&T service at the Electric Forest Festival, according to festival organizers.

“At approximately 2 a.m. last night, lightning struck a local cell tower resulting in a service interruption to AT&T service. AT&T has not yet released an update on expected timing for service to be restored,” stated Carrie Lombardi, a festival organizer.

Thunderstorms have wreacked havoc on the first weekend of the gigantic music festival at the Double JJ Resort, creating muddy grounds for the tens of thousands of attendees. The first weekend continues through Sunday, June 25. The second weekend is June 29 through July 2.
