43rd Asparagus Queen to be crowned Saturday.

SHELBY — The 43rd Asparagus Queen will be crowned during the 2017 Queen’s Pageant/Fundraiser at Shelby High School this Saturday, June 3.

Five women vying for the 2017 title include: Valerie Fedewa of Hart; Taylor Grimm of Scottville; Kendra Larios-Mendez of Hart; Vicki Platt of Hart; and Jennifer Slager from Fremont.

The 2016 Queen Mary Harris and First Runner Up Mandy Achterhof will hand over the reins to the new queen and runner up.

Doors open at 6 p.m. for an appetizer and social hour, and the pageant begins at 7 p.m.

Tickets are available from NAF Board of Director members, queen candidates, at the NAF office in Hart, and at the door. The minimum donation for adults is $12; children 5-12, $6; children under 5 are free.

All proceeds from ticket sales go toward the pageant’s scholarship/charitable donation fund.
