HART — A 64-year-old Hesperia man facing three felonies will undergo a competency exam due to suffering from a stroke.

Bruce Wayne Woodward, of 5349 S. 164th Ave., was arrested last winter by the Hesperia Police Department for felonies of carrying a concealed weapon, felonious assault and felony firearms.

Woodward was scheduled to appear in 27th Circuit Court Monday, May 22, for a pretrial hearing.

However, his attorney, Terry Shaw, said Woodward is currently in an adult foster care home due to the effects of the stroke.

Judge Robert D. Springstead ordered that a competency exam be performed on Woodward by June 12. A hearing discussing the findings of the exam is scheduled for June 19 at 9:30 a.m.
