HART — A 52-year-old man and his 31-year-old son allegedly got into a fight involving a kantana sword, a gun, knives and alcohol Wednesday, May 10, at 12:24 a.m. in the 200 block of West Main Street, and both men were arrested on felony charges by the Hart Police Department.
Clay Jason Sleight, of 251 West Main St., Hart, and his son, Jason Michael Sleight, of the same address, were arraigned in 78th District Court. The elder Sleight faces two counts of felonious assault, using knives and a handgun, and one count of weapons/firearm under the
influence. Jason Sleight is charged with felonious assault using a kantana sword, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. A katana is a samurai-style sword.
Minor injuries were reported, Bizon said.
They both were lodged in the Oceana County Jail on $5,000/10 percent bonds. Both men have bonded out of jail, according to court staff.
The Sleights are scheduled to appear in district court Monday, May 22, for a preliminary conference at 3 p.m. and May 30 at 3 p.m. for a preliminary exam.
