GRANT TOWNSHIP — Five people living in a home at 3069 W. Tahoe Trail in the Lake Tahoe subdivision near New Era lost their home in a fire early Thursday morning, April 20, according to Grant Township Fire Chief Roland Brooks.
The one-story home with a basement, which is uninsured, was totally destroyed. “It’s a total loss,” Brooks said.
The home was owned by Mary Ann Montambo, Brooks said. The American Red Cross is assisting the fire victims.
The fire was dispatched at midnight, the chief said, and firefighters did not clear the scene until 6 a.m. A fire investigator is on scene to determine the cause, and firefighters were called back to the scene this afternoon when the fire rekindled in the basement.
Firefighters from Shelby-Benona and Ferry Township assisted. No one was injured.
