SHELBY TOWNSHIP — Authorities are searching for a missing man with Alzheimer’s disease who has been missing since Sunday evening. Arnold Leroy Merrill, 76 is described as being caucasian, 5-feet, 6-inches and 260 pounds with gray hair. He walked away from his residence in the 800 block of West Shelby Road Sunday evening and was reported missing about 8:30 p.m.
According to the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Merrill was possibly seen at approximately 11:15 p.m. near the intersection of West Shelby Rd. and South 96th Ave. by a passing motorist. He was last seen wearing dark pants, white dress shirt with a red sweater and long trench coat.
An active search is underway involving the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office and reserves, Michigan State Police, DNR, volunteers from local fire departments and the community. Anyone who has seen Merrill is asked to report the information immediately to Mason/Oceana Central Dispatch 231-869-5858.
