SHELBY TOWNSHIP — No one was hurt in a car vs. semi truck crash on southbound US 31 north of Shelby Road Wednesday night, March 1, in snowy, icy conditions.

The semi truck, driven by a 33-year-old Middleville, Michigan man, “jackknifed across both lanes of US 31 prior to coming to rest,” states an accident report from the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.

A 32-year-old Whitehall man was driving a 2004 Dodge Neon with a 27-year-old Whitehall man as a passenger. As the 2002 Kenworth tractor trailer was passing the Neon, the Neon driver lost control of the car and slid in front of the semi, the report states. The semi then struck the driver’s side of the Neon, causing it leave the roadway west of US 31.

The report states that the road was icy, and it was snowing and blowing at 10:35 p.m. when the crash occurred.

All of the men were wearing seat belts, the report states. No citations were issued.
