GREENWOOD TOWNSHIP — A 13-year-old Wyoming, Michigan boy died following a hunting accident Saturday, Feb. 18, shortly before 4 p.m. near East Cleveland Road and 192nd Avenue.
Michigan State Police troopers from the Hart Post were called out to the scene for a hunting accident, according to an MSP press release issued Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 21.
“When troopers arrived at the scene, they discovered a 13-year-old boy from Wyoming, Michigan had been shot in the head while small game hunting. He was with two other hunters. The victim was transported to Hackley Hospital in Muskegon where he was later pronounced dead. The incident is still under investigation.”
According to the call to central dispatch, the bullet ricocheted and hit the boy in the head.
“Troopers were assisted at the scene by Hesperia Fire Department, the Department of Natural Resources, Life EMS and the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office.”
