Firefighter back on duty after minor injury.

By Allison Scarbrough. Editor.

SHELBY TOWNSHIP — The firefighter who was hurt after being hit by falling debris while battling a barn fire Friday afternoon, Feb. 17, at 3091 West Grant Road was “treated and released at the scene,” said Shelby-Benona and Hart Fire Chief Jack White.

The injured firefighter “returned to duty,” White said, following treatment by Oceana County EMS.

White did not want to release to the firefighter’s name or any further details, such as the person’s gender or age.

Firefighters from Shelby-Benona, Grant Township, Hart and Ferry Township were dispatched to the scene at approximately 4 p.m.

The centuries-old barn with a timber frame and steel siding made conditions dangerous as the large beams and debris fell to the ground while being sprayed by water.
