HESPERIA — The Hesperia Community Library recently received a donation of $1,000 from the Shelby Optimist Club for the library’s summer reading programs.
The Shelby Optimist Club is a civic organization that encourages members to work to improve themselves and to encourage the same in others.
Summer reading is right around the corner for all Oceana County libraries. This year’s theme is “Building a Better World.”
The summer reading program is intended to encourage children and their families to enjoy new experiences, learn about something fun and to participate in reading-based activities.
“We appreciate the friendship of the Optimist Club members to the area libraries,” said Library Director Kay Brennan. “This donation will help us continue to offer an interesting and fun summer reading program at the library.”
The Hesperia program will start in late June and run through July. More information will be available in June.
