HART — An 18-year-old Rothbury man was sentenced to 51 months to 25 years in prison Monday, Jan. 30, in 27th Circuit Court for a conviction of first-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC).
Kenneth Eugene Carr, of 6981 128th Ave., sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 7, according to Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. Carr was arrested Oct. 27 by the Michigan State Police the day after the assault. “There was an almost immediate response to it,” Bizon said.
Carr pleaded “no contest” to the charge last December. Sentencing guidelines in the case were 51-85 months.
Judge Anthony A. Monton said Carr will be subject to electronic monitoring for the rest of his life.
The victim’s mother wanted the case settled and agreed to the plea deal, the prosecutor said.
Carr, who has been lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $150,000/cash/surety bond, was given credit for 97 days served in jail.
The maximum penalty for first-degree CSC is life in prison.
