HART — Shelby-Benona Fire Chief Jack White is now also the Hart Area fire chief, replacing long-time chief Ken Klotz who resigned from the position.

The Hart Area Fire Authority Board voted unanimously, Dec. 22, to give the job to White, said Hart Area Fire Department Secretary/Treasurer Dan Leimback.

White, who lives in Hart, officially took over the duties, Jan. 1, Leimback said. He will serve a dual role as the chief of the two neighboring departments, he said.

Klotz, who had been the chief for 10 years, will continue to serve as a firefighter for the Hart department, Leimback said. Klotz has been on the Hart Area Fire Department for 40 years. Board member Clancy Aerts said Klotz resigned as chief effective Jan. 1.

White has been the Shelby chief for approximately 10 years, Leimback said.
