New sheriff, officials sworn in.

HART — Craig Mast, who has been the lieutenant for the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, was officially sworn in by 27th Circuit Court Judge Anthony A. Monton this week as the new Oceana County sheriff.

Mast, who won the primary election last August, officially takes over the sheriff duties Jan. 1 when current sheriff Robert Farber retires. Mast has chosen deputy Ryan Schiller as his undersheriff. Mast ran unopposed in the general election in November.

Monton also swore in Michelle Martin as the new Oceana County drain commissioner. Martin, was also opposed during the primary election, but unopposed in the general election.

Three other county officials who ran unopposed in the primary and general elections – Prosecutor Joseph Bizon, Clerk Rebecca Griffin and Register of Deeds Rick Hodges – were also sworn in by Monton Monday.
