HART — An 18-year-old Rothbury man faces a minimum prison term of 51-85 months after pleading “no contest” to first-degree criminal sexual conduct Monday, Dec. 19, in 27th Circuit Court.

Kenneth Eugene Carr, of 6981 128th Ave., sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 7, according to Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon. Carr was arrested Oct. 27 by the Michigan State Police the day after the assault. “There was an almost immediate response to it,” Bizon said.

Judge Anthony A. Monton will set the maximum term when Carr is sentenced.

The victim’s mother wanted the case settled and agreed to the plea deal, the prosecutor said.

Carr remains lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $150,000/cash/surety bond, awaiting his Jan. 30 sentencing.

First-degree CSC carries a maximum life sentence.
