HART — The Hart Police Department is pursuing a felonious assault charge against a 45-year-old Shelby man who allegedly wielded a baseball bat and threatened a victim in the parking lot of Dave’s Party Store on Wood Street, Nov. 22, according to Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar.

The incident stemmed from an altercation that occurred at the Rothbury Community Center, which was investigated by the Oceana County Sheriff’s Office, Salazar said. The suspect in the party store incident was the victim in the community center incident, he said. The victim in the party store incident is a family member to the suspect allegedly involved in the incident in Rothbury.

The police report has been forwarded to the Oceana County Prosecutor’s Office for review, Salazar said.

  • 10:55 a.m., (Michigan State Police), a 35-year-old Roscommon woman was arrested for improper medical marijuana transport, 110th Avenue, Shelby Township.
  • 1:57 p.m., (MSP), a 47-year-old Hart woman was arrested for driving while license suspended (DWLS) and improper plates, Third Street and Michigan Avenue, Village of Shelby.

Thursday, Nov. 24, 2016:

  • Noon, (MSP), a 35-year-old Montague man was arrested for DWLS, driving an unregistered vehicle and driving without insurance, Oceana Drive and Skeels Road, Grant Township.
  • 12:31 p.m., (HPD), domestic assault, McDonald’s restaurant, Polk Road, Hart, under investigation. Suspect fled scene before police arrival.

Friday, Nov. 25, 2016:

  • 11:36 a.m., (HPD), larceny from a vehicle, a camera valued at $600 was stolen, Johnson Street near Water Street, City of Hart.
  • 1 p.m., (MSP), a 35-year-old Muskegon man was arrested for driving without insurance and driving an unregistered vehicle, M 20 and Oceana Drive, Shelby Township.
  • 1:30 p.m., (MSP), a 36-year-old Walkerville woman was arrested on an outstanding warrant. She turned herself in to authorities.
  • 2:15 p.m., (MSP), a 55-year-old Cedar Springs man was arrested for DWLS and marijuana possession, Polk Road and US 31, Hart Township.
  • 3 p.m., (MSP), a 23-year-old Montague man was cited for unlawful license plate use, Michigan Avenue and Winston Road, Village of Rothbury.
  • 5:30 p.m., (HPD), breaking and entering of a home on Wood Street, City of Hart. Change stored in two two-liter bottles and a piggy bank was stolen.
  • 7:05 p.m., (MSP), a 28-year-old Grand Rapids woman was arrested for DWLS, Oceana Drive and Polk Road, Hart Township.
  • 10:35 p.m., (MSP), a 28-year-old Rothbury man was injured in a one-vehicle crash, 6500 block of Water Road, Grant Township. Alcohol and marijuana may have been factors in the crash, which remains under investigation, according to Trooper Dan Thomas.

Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016:

  • 10:15 a.m., (MSP), a 49-year-old Hesperia woman was arrested for second-offense DWLS and driving without insurance, Division Street, Village of Hesperia.
  • 5:50 p.m., (HPD), damaged property, car egged, 100 block of Apple Street, City of Hart.

Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016:

  • 11:55 a.m., (MSP), a 29-year-old woman was arrested for driving without insurance, State Street and Polk Road, City of Hart.
  • 1:06 p.m., (HPD), two-car crash involving minor injuries, Oceana Drive and Main Street, City of Hart. A 79-year-old Hart woman, who was eastbound on Main Street, pulled out into the intersection and into the path of a vehicle traveling northbound on Oceana Drive, according to Salazar. No one was transported to the hospital, but they were checked out by Oceana County EMS. The 79-year-old woman was cited for failure to yield.
