HART — Two homeless men from the Hart area were arrested by the Hart Police Department last week for squatting.

Rafael Riley, 18, and Jonathan Schwab, 19, were allegedly squatting in a repossessed home located in the 600 block of Courtland Street, said Hart Police Chief Juan Salazar.

Riley and Schwab are listed as “homeless” in their district court files, according to court staff. Police were investigating a probation violation complaint when they discovered the pair were squatting in the home, the chief said.

They were both lodged in the Oceana County Jail on bonds of $5,000/cash/surety/10 percent. Riley is scheduled for a pretrial Dec. 6 at 4:30 p.m., and Schwab is set for a pretrial Dec. 16 at 9:45 a.m.
