#HesperiaCommunityLibrary

HESPERIA — If you are looking for a creative activity, join the Hesperia Community Library’s photo contest, “Hesperia, The Way I See It.”

The library is taking entries Monday, Nov. 21. This is limited to residents of the Hesperia Library district and there are two divisions — student and adult. You can take a picture of something or someone anywhere within the district and share it with the community. A photo of your dog or cat, cow or horse just might take home the prize. Maybe that last selfie at the football game or a picture of a beautiful sunset over McLaren Lake might impress the judge. You can enter two photos by Nov. 30. They will be displayed from Dec. 5-9 for the popular vote.

On Dec. 10, there will be a reception to award prizes, and the photos will be on display until Dec. 17. Cash prizes are awarded for both the student and adult divisions and the popular vote. Stop in the library for an entry form and more information.

The library has the 2017 “Book a Day” calendar for only $5. Each day you can read a short summary of a wide variety of new and not-so-new books. This calendar is a great gift for people who like to read. Each page features titles you might have missed, newer titles or authors you might enjoy. There is a limited number of calendars, so stop in soon.

Visit the library’s website, www.hesperialibrary.org, for more details.
