HART — A 54-year-old Hesperia man was sentenced to 18 months to five years in prison Monday, Oct. 24, in 27th Circuit Court for a conviction of assault with intent to commit second-degree criminal sexual conduct (CSC).

Victor Manuel Gonzalez, Jr., of 3630 Baker Rd., pleaded “no contest” to the charge last month. In exchange for his plea to the added count, charges of first-degree CSC and second-degree CSC were dismissed.

The case involves a victim under the age of 13, according to his court file.

Gonzalez, who has been lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $250,000 cash bond since his arrest, received credit for 166 days served.

Sentencing guidelines for the conviction are 10-23 months, said Judge Anthony A. Monton.

“I would ask that the court impose the recommended sentence,” said Gonzalez’s attorney, John English.
