Frontier customers unable to make 911 calls for 90 minutes.
Frontier Communications customers were not able to make 911 calls in Mason and Oceana counties for an hour and a half Thursday evening, Oct. 20, according to Mason-Oceana 911 Director Ray Hasil.
The cause of the outage and how wide spread it was are unknown.
“Customers of Frontier Communications in Mason and Oceana counties are experiencing phone outages this evening,” states a press release issued by Hasil. “Mason-Oceana 911 was unable to receive 911 calls for approximately 90 minutes tonight. Connections went down just after 6 p.m. this evening and were restored at approximately 7:30 p.m. All incoming 911 calls were automatically routed to Muskegon Central Dispatch, answered, and communicated to Mason-Oceana 911 via non-emergency phone lines.
“The cause and extent of the outage are not known.”
