Firefighters’ quick actions save home.

GRANT TOWNSHIP — Firefighters’ quick actions saved a single-story manufactured home located on Robinhood Drive near Rothbury Monday evening, Oct. 3.

No one was injured in the fire dispatched at 6 p.m., and the home is “salvageable,” said Grant Township Fire Department Lt. Dan Yost. When he arrived at the scene, “black smoke and flames were showing,” said Yost.

The occupants, who are an adult female and three young children, evacuated the home, Yost said. The fire started in the living room, which is “extensively damaged,” but the cause was not immediately known.

Red Cross was called to assist the family to provide temporary accommodations and necessities. It was not immediately known if the home was insured.

Montague Fire Department and Oceana County EMS assisted.
