HART — Tony Jerome Lopez, 42, of 314 Hart St., Hart, pleaded “no contest” to attempted assault with intent to commit to great bodily harm less than murder in 27th Circuit Court Monday, Sept. 12, and faces a one-year jail term.

In exchange for Lopez’s plea, felonies of assault with intent to commit to great bodily harm less than murder and unlawful imprisonment were dismissed. The plea agreement calls for capping Lopez’s jail time at one year, said Oceana County Prosecutor Joseph Bizon.

Lopez, who is lodged in the Oceana County Jail on a $25,000/cash/surety bond, severely beat a female victim last June in the City of Hart.

Sentencing is set for Oct. 24 at 9 a.m.
