LEAVITT TOWNSHIP — A 63-year-old Walkerville man driving a semi truck received minor injuries Thursday, Sept. 8, at 6:14 a.m. when the truck’s headlights failed, causing him to lose sight of the road and crash into a tree, according to an Oceana County Sheriff’s Office accident report.

The trucker, who was driving a 1996 semi truck for Storms Acres in Hart, was northbound on North 168th Avenue, south of East Fox Road. He told police that the truck’s headlights shut off, causing him to lose sight of the road. The truck ran off the road and hit a tree.

The trucker was driving in dark, wet conditions on an unlighted road, the report states.
