According to Michigan State Police Trooper Todd Goodrich, who was at the scene, a full-size Chevrolet pickup truck was northbound on Oceana Drive and was stopping to turn into a driveway when it was rear-ended. A Chevrolet S10 was slowing down behind it when the S10 was rear-ended by a Dodge minivan, which pushed the S10 into the rear of the stopped truck. As the Chevy S10 was spinning in the road, its tailgate then hit a southbound pickup truck, Goodrich said.

The driver of the minivan, a 20-year-old Montague woman, was cited for failure to stop within an assured, clear distance.

Assisting the state police were Oceana County EMS, Grant Township Fire Department, Rothbury Police Department, and Grant Township First Responders.

Alcohol, drugs, speed and distracted driving did not appear to be factors in the crash, Goodrich said. oceana dr/skeels crash - 1The rain-slicked road also did not appear to be factor in the chain-reaction crash.
